While I did do a little jump of joy when it was confirmed TGI Fridays (or I will now it TGI Wednesdays) would be coming to Oman and they set an opening date – September 15 for those of you who are interested – I am unsure how the concept is really going to work here. TGI Fridays as I know it in the UK is known for three main things – cocktails (of which their site claims in the UK alone they sell over 40,000 a week), Jack Daniels Sauce and did I mention cocktails? The food is ok and the restaurants are always a good place for a laugh with friends on someone’s birthday, but I can’t see in my head how it will translate here.
Apparently the branch in Muscat, located in the City Seasons Hotel in Al Khuwair, won’t be serving alcohol. But will they still serve Jack Daniels sauce with their meat dishes even though the sauce itself apparently doesn’t contain any alcohol or will it be renamed something else? The above image is the property of robertpaulyoung
Can anyone from TGI Fridays over here give us an idea of what the menu will be like? I know there are branches in Dubai and Kuwait, but I can’t find a menu for them online and have never visited. I’m imagining them doing something along the line of Chillies… will be love of Chillies be replaced by TGI Fridays? Only time will tell.Fingers crossed it is worth the wait J

their facebook page says they will not be servng alcohol.. the one in dubai has a menu similar to chillis :) all the drinks are non alcoholic and REALLY yummy food! i don't think they would risk serving anything with alcohol...usually the middle east branches change their menu a bit. and once we saw a jack daniels sauce here in sultan center! i am sure someone removed it by now!
ReplyDeleteHi there, you can checked out their facebook account...tgifridays oman
ReplyDeleteAmazing to think that in Jakarta, Indonesia, the country with the largest muslim population in the world,TGIF's serves alcohol, has JD sauce (the alcohol is off course burnt off during the cooking anyway, just leaving the flavour) and baby-back pork ribs. Indonesia has no trouble with either alcohol or pork. Maybe it's time I emigrate.
